Well im going to jump in before someone throws in a link to wiki and closes the thread....
Basically we have been informed that your achievements from GW1 can be displayed in Hall O Mon and you can be rewarded in GW2 from filling up your HoM. Might be things like the mini pets you dedicate you can keep in GW2. But basically we dnt know all we know is that we will be 'Rewarded' in GW2 for filling up the HoM. You can check the wiki, which quotes the guildwars.com website, but all we know is that we will receive some special rewards. They will be visible to other players, but NOT give any advantage in the game.

"Filling up the HoM" is an overstatement. You don't need to "fill" the HoM with every conceivable item/statue/etc.
All we sorta know so far is that some things in your HoM may give you access to particular titles or other cosmetic items in GW2. The weapons/armor/etc. won't be usable in GW2, but you may be able to show them off to visitors to your HoM (weee). Don't get to over involved with putting stuff into the HoM. None of it will confer any advantage in GW2 and my bet is that everyone will be more interested in the new GW2 stuff anyway. |

Having a full HoM is soley for bragging rights and/or personal satisfaction at this point. From what has been released thus far, it appears that you will also be able to work on HoM in GW1 after GW2 is out. Therefore, my opinion is that it is not a big deal to worry about filling it all right now, although it is very nice if you can do it.
